To know Steph and Chris is to understand both how warm they are, and how deeply their lives are entwined together. They spend their lives together laughing hysterically, traveling the world, and loving those they hold most dear. We danced our way through their Central Park engagement session, and into planning their magnificent wedding. It’s going to be a little strange without weekly texts from Steph going over everything from decor to trying to find the illusive indoor photo location. It all worked out like a dream; they were married on their 10th anniversary of dating surrounded by those they love the most.
Now Chris and Steph’s wedding story starts a day earlier than most; with so many loved ones coming in they wanted their weekend as documented as possible, so we started at their rehearsal dinner. It was an evening of eyes-closed laughter, heartfelt toasts, and showing out-of-towners the magic that is beef-on-weck. Those grins only grew broader on their wedding day.
Steph spent the morning surrounded by equally fantastic wedding party getting their hair and makeup done with mimosas. It was lovely, and the energy in the room was contagious. Every person there was so thrilled for these two marvelous humans. Amid sentimental gifts, and elegant details, Steph prepare to marry her best friend. Now, Chris had a very different morning. It was full of hatchet throwing (yes, all toes and fingers were accounted for at the end), and fun with his favorite people.
The entire morning — and the ten years leading up to it — all built up to the same magnificent moment: Steph and Chris seeing each other for the first time. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as Steph walked down the aisle with her father — Chris included. Their Burchfield Penny Art Center ceremony was jam-packed with belly-aching laughter and thoughtful touches. After celebrating a decade-long relationship with a kiss and a dance down the aisle, we kept that energy going all through their portraits. The froze their butts off but never stopped having fun.
That fun was just the start of their evening. Their Asbury Hall reception was genuinely extraordinary; they danced, they ate surrounded by dozens of beautiful cakes and amid heartfelt toasts, they were thrown up in chairs (there was a little bit of throwing off too, but it happens every time), they cheered on a decade of dating with a balloon drop at 10, and they danced until the very last song. Every person in that room was so thrilled for Steph and Chris, and oh boy did they have a blast celebrating.
Cheers you two, thank you for being nothing short of fantastic. You guys are the very best!
