If you’re like me, you’ve rotated between watching the news in abject horror, taking the occasional mental health break to breathe, and jump right back into whatever way you release rage (protesting, making calls, running, bourbon, yelling at people on facebook — I don’t judge).
I’ve been at a loss of what else I could do too; I’m making daily calls to government officials and donated the money I could. I’m immunocompromised so I cannot go to protests, it still didn’t feel like enough. That’s where you come in. All you can give is the skills that you have, so I’m putting my time where my (often loud) mouth is.
Over the month of June, Jacqueline Connor Photography will be hosting outdoor portrait sessions with 100% of the proceeds going towards the local activist group Black Love Resists in the Rust.
How it Works
In exchange for a minimum donation, you will receive a portrait session. Normally, our charity sessions are limited to specific genres but this time around we want all the money possible going their way. Family sessions, headshots, dance sessions, maternity, couples photos, engagement sessions — I’m in. Not sure if what you want is covered? Reach out and we can chat about it.
The full sessions will take place over the month of June, with the mini sessions taking place on June 20th.
I’m in, how do I sign up?
Make a donation to Black Love Resists in the Rust here. The minimum donations for each session type are as follows:
$100 – a 15 minute mini session with 5 files
*These are only available for June 20th at Amherst State Park in Buffalo
$200 – A 30-minute outdoor portrait session in the Buffalo area with 10 fully retouched images
$300 – A 1-hour outdoor portrait session in the Buffalo or Rochester areas with 20 fully retouched images
For every addition $50 over $300 you will receive a the equivalent print credit, and 25% off your print order.
Send the receipt over to email@example.com
I will send you a contract, and we set up your session.
You get kickass photos and are supporting an important local activist group
Any questions? Let me know, I’m happy to answer whatever you need.
Can we do a boudoir or indoor session?
At this time our studio has not re-opened for indoor sessions. In an effort to safely photograph, only outdoor sessions are available.
What safety precautions will you be taking with COVID-19?
As much as I would love to give you all the biggest hug, these sessions will be socially distanced and I will be wearing a mask. Your safety is my top priority
Do I send you the money?
Nope! To keep everything as streamlined as possible, make your donation directly to Black Love Resists in the Rust via their donation page. Once you have done that, email me a copy of the receipt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
