So you have spent god knows how many years perfecting your craft; you’ve left literal blood, sweat, and tears on the stage. Through all of those years, how many photos do you have to show for it?
I’m going to guess there’s a folder of photos somewhere with a kick or maybe a firebird on a cheesy backdrop in some fluffy/glittery/feathered costumes. Perhaps the occasional photo that was taken at the right moment during a performance or a selfie from #tilttuesday. There are probably photos that show how high your extensions are, or how you can jump, but are there any that shows what it feels like when you dance?
SO HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
Whether you are a turner, mover, or your jumps are sky-high, your session will be about showcasing your best from the very start. We will go through exactly how to make your photos highlight your very best artistry while keeping an eye on what you are still working on (the turnout on my left leg ALWAYS left something to be desired).
You’ll get lost in the music and movement, just like if you were improving at your studio (or if you’re like me, your kitchen).
WHAT DO I WEAR?
That is entirely up to you! You are welcome to bring multiple outfits to your session, but I do recommend sticking to mostly dancewear instead of elaborate costumes. That way, the photos will be about you and your artistry, not how cute your costume was.
DO YOU WORK WITH ALL SKILL LEVELS?
Of course! Whether you just started with your first pair of pointe shoes, or are a working professional, there are beautiful images to be made. From working with dancers from So You Think You Can Dance and Broadway stars to dancers at the studio right next door, I’ve got you. You are welcome with open arms and a good stretch.
WHY SHOULD I HIRE YOU?
Because I tell great jokes (kidding, they are actually pretty terrible).
I know what it’s like to be where you are. I spent my whole life as a performer, and that feeling is something that you never forget. While my career as a dancer may have been cut short due to an injury, my love of dance has never dimmed for a moment.
How many photos do you have where you were not quite over the box of your shoe en pointe? How about your supporting leg not being as straight and turned out as it could be? Or where your tap riff wasn’t quite at the perfect spot? I notice those things because I also spent my whole life perfecting them too.
I anticipate the peak spot that shows off your movement, so you don’t have to spend 20 minutes repeating the same step. From the grandest of your skills to the smallest expression of the joy you feel while dancing, I’ve got you. Your images will show every bit of the artist that you are.
Do you do performance photos?
Absolutely! Just like with portraits, catching images at the exact right moment is key for beautiful photos. You would get images of the best parts of your performances to document all of your hard work. Whether it’s a small college performance or a larger recital — I’m in.
Are headshots included?
Headshots are included in every dance portrait session. We work through the best ways to display your personality; you’ll nail your next audition.
